Pokemon Blaze Black 2 Redux introduces several key improvements in this version:
- Maximum Evolution Methods must be changed for better accessibility.
- Gift Pokemon now offer a greater and more diverse variety.
- Drayno's Engine is used along with new important NPCs.
- 3 Game Modes could be selected: Easy, Challenge, and Black City!
- Every Legendary & Mythical Pokemon can be captured in this version.
- Redux Documentation is added in the game file for reference!
- Item Locations are changed with updated Pokemon moves.
- Type Combo, Trainers, Trade & Wild Area all receive significant changes!
Wild Pokemon Encounters
Wild Pokemon distribution has been completely overhauled across every area of the game. Most locations now contain at least 8 different Pokemon species, and many areas feature even more diversity. This is designed to help players complete a full PokeDex within the game itself. The majority of Pokemon are obtainable before the seventh badge, meaning you could form virtually any team composition you desire. A few legendaries must wait until after the Elite Four, but try to catch everything else beforehand.
Trainer Roster Changes
Trainer rosters throughout Pokemon Blaze Black 2 Redux have been extensively modified. The only exception is the Dome trainers, as proper trainer editing tools for B2W2 are not yet available. This modification has resulted in a higher level curve throughout the game. Players can expect to reach the first Elite Four challenge around level 70. Gym Leaders, rivals, and Elite Four members are all significantly tougher. Gym Leaders feature varying team sizes based on your selected mode. Normal Mode provides Gym Leaders with 3 to 5 Pokemon, while Challenge Mode pits you against full teams of six. The Elite Four and Champion also hold special surprises in Challenge Mode.
Pokemon Modifications
Pokemon in this ROM Hack have received numerous adjustments. These changes include level-up movesets, abilities, TM and Move Tutor compatibility, and even base stats. A comprehensive document is included that explains everything you need to know. Dream World abilities are now much easier to obtain through these modifications. However, the Vanilla version of the hack removes these particular changes if this does not appeal to you.
Attack Changes
Attack modifications have been implemented in Pokemon Blaze Black 2 Redux. For example, Pledge moves now have 100 base power, and Cut is now a Grass-type move. This feature is also removed in the Vanilla version if players prefer the original attack mechanics.
Evolution Changes
Evolution methods have been significantly altered in Pokemon Blaze Black 2 Redux. Trade evolutions are the primary focus of these changes. In most cases, you could simply "Use" the item like an evolution stone. For example, using a Magmarizer on Magmar will trigger evolution. Pokemon that normally evolve through trade without items can now use the Covenant Ore. This new item is available in several locations throughout the game and functions as an evolution stone. Leafeon and Glaceon are now obtainable through Woodland Ore and Frozen Ore respectively, bypassing their postgame area restrictions. Shelmet and Karrablast follow a Mantyke-style routine where the other must be in your party to trigger evolution. Finally, some Unovan Pokemon such as Scraggy, Mienfoo, and Larvesta have reduced evolution levels to improve their usability compared to older species.
Item Distribution
Item distribution has been substantially changed in Pokemon Blaze Black 2 Redux. This is primarily designed to make almost all TMs available before defeating the Elite Four. Notable changes include much earlier access to Flamethrower and Thunderbolt TMs. An Earthquake TM is even obtainable as early as the fifth gym. Evolution items such as Reaper Cloth, Up-Grade, and Protector can also be found on the map.
Poke Mart Updates
Poke Mart inventories have been edited across several locations. Examples include Luxury Balls available in Virbank City, Heart Scales and shards purchasable in Driftveil City, and comprehensive evolution items available at the Route 9 department store.
Text Modifications
Text edits have been implemented throughout Pokemon Blaze Black 2 Redux. Some changes include sprinkled references, while most adjustments ensure item changes align with the dialogue. Juniper's opening speech has been modified. This serves as confirmation that the hack is working correctly.
Legendary Encounters
One-time encounter Pokemon such as Cobalion, Virizion, Volcarona, and Braviary have received level increases to match the new level curve. A much larger variety of one-time encounters is now available, primarily featuring legendaries. Articuno could be found in front of Twist Mountain, and Kyogre could be discovered within the Abyssal Ruins. Players must unlock a portion of these around the eighth gym badge, with the remainder becoming available after the Pokemon League. Try to catch them all!
Trade Pokemon
Trade Pokemon within the game have been improved with much better IVs. Players can now trade for Togepi, Gengar, and Exeggutor before challenging the Elite Four. Trades with Yancy and Curtis remain unchanged.
New Events
New events have been added to Pokemon Blaze Black 2 Redux. These include Gym Leader rematches outside the PWT, battles against Hoenn Leaders at various points, Harlequins who distribute starters, and encounters with Hilbert and Hilda. Easy Mode and Challenge Mode keys are given almost immediately at the beginning of the game.
Hidden Grottos
Hidden Grotto Pokemon across Unova have been completely changed. This is a primary method to obtain starter Pokemon you did not receive, along with a large assortment of other species. The Vanilla version makes this particularly important for keeping your Pokemon competitive. Most Pokemon with useful Dream World abilities could be found somewhere in these grottos.
TM Replacements
TM replacements have been implemented in Pokemon Blaze Black 2 Redux. Sky Drop, Quash, and Struggle Bug have been replaced. Hurricane, Sucker Punch, and Bug Buzz are now available as their respective replacements.
