Pokemon Emerald EX comes from Pokemon Amethyst Team as a Game Boy Advance ROM hack built around the Emerald adventure. This is the 2026 GBA hack, and the creator-attributed Hackdex page lists version 1.0.4, released September 9, 2026. Pokemon Emerald EX stands apart from the Windows remake Pokemon Gamma Emerald and from the older Pokemon Theta Emerald EX hack.
Hoenn grows in Pokemon Emerald EX with additional and extended routes, towns, special areas, and events. Pokemon Emerald EX raises the original eight-gym structure by eight more gyms, so the total reaches sixteen. The roster also expands to 479 Pokemon, giving returning players a broader set of species to encounter and build around.
Battle changes in Pokemon Emerald EX cover revised learnsets, stats, abilities, and trainer teams, along with a physical/special split.
